Bahrain announces the largest oil and gas discovery to date

Bahrain, an oil producer in the Middle East, has announced plans to explore the largest oil and gas field since 1932. More details will be released on April 4.
The government of Bahrain announced the discovery of new tight oil and deep natural gas resources on April 1, the Bahrain national news agency reported. The discovery is the largest since Bahrain first exploited oil in 1932. The discovery will "dwarf" Bahrain's current oil reserves, the report said.
Commenting on the news, Bahrain's oil minister said that at the beginning of the discovery of these resources, Bahrain had carried out a detailed analysis on "discovery content, scale and extractability" together with the internationally renowned oil industry. "This will be a project to break the new situation in the industry," said professional analysts.
The government of Bahrain confirmed that research on modelling and analysis was under way, led by the national oil and Gas Authority (Noga) of Bahrain and working with private sector partners, with a view to elaborating on the final volume and market value of the discovery.
BNA said it expects broad and long-term support for the project as well, with King Hamad of Bahrain presenting a directive to the National High Commission for natural resources and economic security aimed at increasing exploration in oil and gas.
Bahrain is not a member of the organization for petroleum export (OPEC), and its oil revenue mainly comes from two aspects: Bahraini field, the main production area of Bahrain, which is offshore, and Abu safah field, which is shared with Saudi Arabia.
Bahrain's oil ministry will hold a press conference on the 4th to provide more details on the initial discovery scale and extraction feasibility of the new oil and gas fields.
