The China International New Material Industry Expo (hereinafter referred to as the new Expo), jointly sponsored by the Ministry of industry and information technology and the people's Government of Heilongjiang Province, has been successfully held for four times in Harbin in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016. In 2011, Zhang Dejiang, then Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the first new fair and announced its opening. In 2014, the new fair was put on record in the State Council and became the exhibition approved by the leading group of the national clean up and standard celebration forum. In 2016, the Ministry of industry and information technology, the development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of science and technology and the Ministry of Finance jointly issued the guide for the development of new material industry, which will regularly hold new fair as a guarantee measure to guide the healthy and orderly development of the national new material industry. At present, the new Expo has become the only one sponsored by the government with high specifications, large scale, authoritative policy information and highly concentrated industrial atmosphere.
The fifth New Expo will be held in Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Sports Center from September 6 to 8, 2018. The purpose is to implement the spirit of the first and second meetings of the national leading group for the development of new material industry, and to further implement the construction goal of "one generation of materials, one generation of equipment and one generation of industry" in accordance with the general requirements of the guide for the development of new material industry. With the theme of "promoting the production and application of new materials", the new Expo covers an exhibition area of 23000 ㎡, and 1100 international standard booths and public areas are set up to display the phased development achievements of new materials, such as innovation ability, application level and guarantee system. More than 1000 well-known Chinese and foreign new material enterprises, institutions of higher learning, scientific research institutes and industrial organizations will be invited to participate in the exhibition, and professional audiences, buyers and purchasing groups in the field of Chinese and foreign new materials will be invited to participate. Leaders of relevant national ministries and commissions, commercial counselors of embassies and consulates of various countries in China, and heads of relevant domestic and foreign enterprise groups and institutions were invited to attend the meeting.
