In recent years, the petrochemical industry in Ningbo has achieved significant development relying on superior port conditions, location advantages, and vast market resources. It has become the most important petrochemical industry base in China and was selected as one of the 45 national advanced manufacturing clusters in November 2022, making it the only green petrochemical industry cluster in the country.

At present, the green petrochemical industry in Ningbo has established a "oil head, chemical tail" full industry chain system with refining and ethylene as the leading industries, and coordinated development of organic chemical raw materials, synthetic materials, and chemical manufacturing industries, forming the scale advantage of refining and chemical integration. The industrial agglomeration effect continues to emerge, and the industrial chain is further extended to the middle and lower reaches. With the continuous improvement of supporting facilities in the petrochemical industry and the modern logistics service system of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, driven by the vast demand in the Yangtze River Delta market such as home appliances, textiles, and automobiles, Ningbo has the foundation to become a world-class petrochemical industry.

To accelerate the development and technological innovation of the chemical industry, effectively promote the high-quality development of the chemical industry, further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in China's chemical industry, enhance the innovation capability and development level of the chemical industry, promote green chemical technology, and promote the sustainable development of the chemical industry. The "2025 Second Ningbo International Chemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition", hosted by the Ningbo Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association and organized by Beijing Shangbo International Exhibition Co., Ltd., is scheduled to be held from June 12-14, 2025 at the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center.
