The National 14th Five Year Plan and the 2035 Vision Outline stipulate that: promote the digitization of resources in public service institutions such as nursing homes, increase openness, sharing, and application efforts; Accelerate the construction of information accessibility to help the elderly, disabled, and others share their digital lives; Vigorously develop inclusive elderly care services, support families to undertake elderly care functions, and build an elderly care service system that coordinates home community institutions and combines medical care and health care; Improve the community home-based elderly care service network, promote the aging friendly transformation of public facilities, extend professional institutional services to the community, integrate and utilize existing resources to develop embedded elderly care in the community; Improve the management mechanism of public and private construction, support the transformation and development of training and rehabilitation resources for elderly care, strengthen policy support for nursing oriented private elderly care institutions, and carry out special actions to promote the linkage between urban and enterprise inclusive elderly care; Deeply promote the integration of medical care, health and wellness. Intensify the training of elderly care talents, expand the supply of nursing beds in elderly care institutions, and increase the proportion of nursing beds in elderly care institutions to 55%, better meeting the nursing service needs of elderly people with disabilities and dementia; Develop a silver economy, develop aging friendly technologies and products, and cultivate new formats such as smart elderly care.

The global elderly care industry has a huge scale, with developed countries such as Europe and America accounting for over 20% of GDP. Currently, China's proportion is only 7%, which is huge compared to the international development space of China's elderly care industry. The elderly care industry in China is still in its early stages. At present, the supply and demand of the elderly care industry in China are not matching, and the government's policy support for the elderly care industry is gradually in place. The elderly care industry is facing development opportunities. As of the end of 2021, the elderly population aged 60 and above in China reached 267 million, accounting for 18.9% of the total population. By around 2035, the population aged 60 and above will exceed 400 million, accounting for over 30% of the total population and entering a stage of severe aging. The 14th Five Year Plan of the country proposes to develop the silver haired economy, develop aging friendly technologies and products, and cultivate new formats such as smart elderly care. In the next 10 to 50 years, China's elderly care industry will surpass real estate to become the largest consumer industry in the country.

The World Health and Wellness Industry Conference and China Tianjin International Elderly Care, Rehabilitation and Retirement Expo will be held from March 3 to 5, 2024 at the Tianjin National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin).
